PostSubject: Creating Hotkeys   Sat Nov 03, 2012 5:11 am

OK, its pretty simple really once you know how.....

first you need to download the hotkeys program, this can be gotten from www.autohotkey.com

Once downloaded you need to run it.....You will get a dialog box which asks you to create an example script. Click 'Yes'. Delete the stuff at the top its just blah blah blah explanation.

At the top of the page its a good idea to type the following
#IfWinActive VskAC32
this means it will only run in the VSK window.

Writing hotkey are easy, Some of the more common command symbols used are as follows:
• ^ - Control
• ! - Alternate
• # - Windows Key
• + - Shift
• F1, F2 etc

example of how it needs to be written

^r::
send {Enter} $w$i$f0fROOM PLS {Enter}
return

it must be formatted in this way or it won't work, the only things that changes are the symbol used, the corresponding letter and what you want to say. After the word "return" just press enter twice and start with your next one.

I find placing it on the desktop makes it easier later to run.....before playing you just need to double click on it, or right click and then go to "run script"

You can have multiple scripts for different types of game play.....eg, one for hosting, one for racing, one for comps etc........but make sure only one is running at a time otherwise it get confused and will pick different commands from different scripts........very frustrating and entertaining for those reading.

To do this right click on you desktop screen and go to "new" then "auto hotkey script"

Get creative, you can use the same colour codes for your hotkeys, just place them before the words like you do with your user name.

mmmmmm think thats it, give it a try, let me know if it doesn't work........it should. Smile Smile Smile Smile

Cheers fella's

Great thanks Reeby for putting this up, very useful information. Other sites have this, but you have written it in a way people can understand it.

Thank you very much for going to the trouble.

Dan

Great John, I hope so, I dont know guys it just looks better, and it actually looks like you're "Hailing" as well when you yell out "STARBOARD", its not like someone can say they didnt notice it....lol Laughing

My favorite for ACCEES races is "RACING ROOM - KEEP CLEAR" I put this one up when a player starts to hunt me, or tacks too close to me, or starts to crowd me, Im well within my rights to "hail" this in accordance with the rules. It generally gets guys to "back-off" a little and at least think about what they are doing.

Hotkeys are fun to play around with as well, remember guys you can colour your text by simply adding the colour codes as you write.

Cheers all

Dan

Dan,

I was having a problem with my Hot Key, it was cutting off the last few letters. I took a second look and after thinking about it. I realised that when the script is populated in the chat box it happens so fast that the enter comand is presented before the last letters can be enterd in the chat box.

Solution........ I opend the folder and edited each hot key by adding a few spaces after the script and before the enter comand to delay the enter comand

send {Enter} $6F0Hello Dan Good Morning{Enter}

send {Enter} $6F0Hello Dan Good Morning..........{Enter} (Ignore the period)

Those few blank spaces delays the enter comand just enough to allow all the letters to post into the chat window

This makes perfict sense to me I hope I conveyed it properly

John:)SmileSmile

Gazza
Find some instructions above. Its pretty easy.
Download the hotkey program, you can get it at the link below.

http://www.autohotkey.com/

When you install hot key all you need to do is right click on your desktop and select the Auto Hot Key option under new( its where you would go to create a folder on your desktop). Right click on the new hot key folder and click on edit then delete everything and add script as Reeby has layed out. I've found that you need to add a few spaces after the first enter comand and before the last enter comand to allow some delay time for the text to be posted in the chat box before the auto enter is posted. I hope this makes sense. When you have this folder set up all you need to do is right click on it and Run Script befor you open VSK
