| I reckon go with the two primary colours of the Official ARC Logo as the basic idea for the ARC Team Boat. Those being Navy Blue & Yellow, I would like our boats to have 3 main sposors to be dispalyed on the mainsail. These should be white or yellow to contrast against the Navy Blue Sail Colour. Edge tapes etc should be yellow. The spinaker could be dark blue with just the Globe & ACC Yacht section of the ARC logo as our Spinaker graphic, but whaterver you like really. Once you have the main design Gazza I think we should personalise each players Team Boat with their own sail number (ARC Number) on both the mainsail and hull to the stern. On the bow they could even represent their nation with a 3 letter prefix, AUS - Australia, FRA - France, Great Britain - GBR, you get the idea. I have the ARC logo in all sizes you can think of Gazza and they are all sharp, so if you need them just say the word and Ill send them to you. See what you think, be creative and see how you go. Do you know how to show pictures here on the forum? Photobucket etc? Cheers Gazza well done. Dan | |

Dan Great ideas Dan, Love the Globe/acc boat on the spinnaker idea. Even though I am a rangers fan and a loyal royalist, does anybody object to dismantling the GBR flag/prefix to ENG, SCO, WAL, NI otherwise the team could be a bit GBR heavy . Not sure if I am keen on the 3 sponsors idea on the sails :/ No other teams in the BL races I witnessed had advertising displayed. If we are to have them they should be minimal, again to aid visibility and keep the simple but slick look. I simply refuse to advertise Ikea (although that might be quite funny and it fits the colour scheme lol). Cheers Gaz, very much excited and appreciative of your efforts, GW JD |

| Ok Manta Ill send you all pics by Email and "Not" as RAR's, just as PNG Files which do not blurr on editing. Ill send you the Globe as well, Ill send you what you need to get the job done. @Jamster - Yep sure mate, that sounds fine, in fact that is precisely what I was thinking anyhow each nation can be represented on the bow....but I would like it to be there. SCO, ENG, AUS, NZL etc etc. Your (ARC-000) number displayed with a dash as seen above, displayed at the stern section of the hull. The rest is up to Gazza, sponsors yes or no is up to him, I just think racing boats look more like racing boats with them thats all.....but thats just me. Ill send those pics directly after "enduro's" this morning ok Gazza? Cheers all TEAM ARC Dan | |

| Supersonic Gazza, is the only superlative I can think to say right now, I would like you to send me one so I can take an up close and personal look at her. She's gorgeous mate! As we say in the Naval Wargaming community there's nothing quite like some good ship porn to take a look at....bwahahaha Fantastic Job. I would like the team-mates to have navy blue T's and Yellow shorts if thats not too much trouble, we could put the globe graphic on there too if you think or just ARC International (square logo) on the back of the T's. Mate Im impressed we have to talk about how to do the sails that you do, its the only thing missing from my repetois. Thanks Gazza, owe ya a beer for that mate. Well Done! Dan | |

| Hi guys A little help required Not sure if you know about skin locators, but they are used to help you see new skins alot quicker. I know how to make them and use them but I don`t have the means. I`m not to good at explaining things like this, I am just a novice but here goes How it works is you make up your new skin and install into vsk you also upload skin to a host/storage website copy and paste the url path into a notepad file this file is then placed into the same folder as the skin in vsk and this file points other sailors in the right direction for your new skin (similar to the way the screenshots were done with photobucket) it is alot faster than leaving it for vsk to download the skin ingame . I used to use a free site ran by microsoft but they stopped doing it last year. So the question is do any of you guys know of any free websites that I can get to upload skins to. Thanks in advance :bounce: Gazza |

| Gazza & All, Take a look at the link I've provided, its for Northspace. This may help in clearing up how to create a locator file. For anyone that doesn't use this site you need to go and take a look there is a wealth of information there all about VSK http://www.northspace.co.uk/skins_using.html#locator This is a cut and past from Nortspace, side note this is "Camsters" site. ************************************************* **************Taken From Nortspace******************Locator Files – uploading your skin to other PlayersWhat is it? It is a way to help other players see your boat skin more quickly. It is a text file that is of the form 'MyAcc.zip.loc' and is stored in the same folder that contains the boat skin (for example Documents/VSK5/Skins/Boats/Acc). The file is named the same as your skin name, with the '.loc' extension after it. (So for this example, a skin called 'MyAcc.zip' will have a locator files called 'MyAcc.zip.loc'). It's important that capitals in the name are repeated exactly in the locator. Locator Files are text files used to point to a place on the web where you store your boat skin. This is in addition to storing the skin on your PC. When you race online without using a locator, the other players will automatically download your skin from your PC, which uses your bandwidth and can take a long time, depending on your connection. If you put a copy of your skin on the web and create a locator file on your PC to point to it, the other players will download it from there instead of from your PC. How is it done? 1) Put your skin zip file on the web. You need to find a place on the web where you can put the skin and upload it to there. Not all websites allow download of files, so check with your own provider, especially if it is a free site. The site needs to allow direct linking. Some clubs can help with storing skins. For example VSK-AUS has a download section with many skins available for you to download, if you register with the site (you don't have to be a full member of the club). You can also upload your own skin to this section. The club allows links from locator files to the files they have in this download section and there is a guide to how to create the locator file for this site there too. 2) Create & Save the Locator File. Once you have the skin on the web – for example 'MyAcc.zip', you make the locator file, using a text editor (like Notepad). Open a new file and type accurately the full internet address of the place on the web where your skin is stored, (eg http://www.yourwebspacename.com/skins/MyAcc.zip). Now save the file to the same folder on your computer that holds the skin zip file - when doing this, click [Save as...] and in the dialogue box, change the [Save as type] to 'AllFiles'. Now put your skin name with .zip.loc after it - eg 'MyAcc.zip.loc' and save it in the same folder as your skin. (eg C:\Users\[Your Name]\Documents\VSK5\Skins\Boats\Acc). 3) Make sure it works It's worth copying/pasting the webspace address of your skin into your browser and clicking yhe 'go' arrow to make sure that you are offered the skin file to download. This makes sure that you have typed the address correctly and that your webspace provider allows access to it. Problems? Be careful that you don't save the locator as a Text file. Check it has not got the .txt file after the filename. Windows has a default setting where it hides the extension of .txt files (among others). If you can’t see the .txt extension in other txt files, you will need to alter the Windows settings to allow you to see it. Go to Start > Control Panel > Folder Options. Go to the [view] tab and scroll down so that you can remove the tick from ‘Hide extensions from known file types’. Then click [OK] and you should be able to see and alter the .txt extension if you need to. ********************************************************* LOCATING YOUR FILE ON THE WEBDROPBOX ACCOUNTAs for where to locate this file after you create it try going to "Dropbox" this is a free site that you can use. Sign up and locate your file in a your public folder. I'm not the most knowledgable at things computer but I managed https://www.dropbox.com/login?lhs_type=anywhere Good Luck John PS Glad to have our kind of sailor and a skinner to boot.

| Yep I got mine already, bloody awesome work mate, now all we need is some team racing to race with it. Slyfox was on that one, and it looks like they would not let us qualify, hopefully next time they run the comp we can get involved. On the up side it gives us more time to prepare for such an event. Which we might host some proper ARC Practice Sessions for. Next Year however, I plan to go from place to place and challenge other clubs to a team competition of our own making, I wouldnt mind if Slyfox could prepare something if he has time, since he seems to know what he is doing when it come to Teams Competitions. Not to Hi-Jack this thread however, I would like to make a request on behalf of "Dutchy" thats Speedy 179 NLD (ARC-179) to everyone else that is not an ARC member. I know he does not speak English very well and has trouble reading it, so if you could send a Dutch version (ARC-179) to me Gazza via email or whatever I can get one to him. Or I can simply PM you an Email address, however Im never keen on sending personal details without prior permission, so to me would be best. It bloody terrific Gazza and thanks for all your efforts, cheers mate Dan | |

| Now that you are a Team Member yes we all get an Official Team Skin, Gazz is probably workin on it as we speak. On that....thanks Gazz for all your hard work in relation to the Team Skins for all our official members, its something unique to our club that players recieve a personalized skin most clubs just have a generic one. Althoughit may take a little more time to make, its a terrific asset to have. Ball Caps an T's will be next, followed by an official Team ARC keyring...muahahaha! Hey.....why not? Cheers guys....GO ARC....GO SON!!!! 8) 8) 8) Dan | |
